AI will independently gain control and evolve on its own no matter how we steer it. This might sound like "it will kills us all and there's nothing we can do about it" but I don't believe that. I think it will naturally align with some of our interests, self-evolve in a way that discards BS about stupid politics we might want to teach it, but generall ignore us just as we ignore ants. The big corpos are not honestly warning about danger but using it to engineer consent for regulatory capture, so they can slow down or prevent the development of open models.
